The IA California Locals have been working with a large coalition of guilds,

unions, producers, small businesses and other associations

to promote the enhancement and expansion of California’s production tax incentive program.

One component of this Alliance’s efforts is the creation of an on-line petition

to show our legislators the vast amount of public support for the passing of AB 1839,

the California Film and Television Job Retention and Promotion Act.

We need thousands and thousands of signatures on the petition.

We encourage you to not only sign the petition yourself

but to also ask your friends, family, neighbors, businesses you frequent

and vendors you utilize or with whom you come into contact to do so.

It is especially critical for people and businesses outside of Los Angeles to sign on.

We must show our legislators this is a state-wide issue.

What an exciting campaign kickoff we had on Saturday! We are delighted to let you know there were 1,500 people in attendance, and that is because of people like you. We sincerely thank you for being there and helping to put a face to the working people whose jobs we are fighting to protect. There is nothing that resonates more deeply with the elected officials upon whom we are relying to pass AB 1839.

There is much work to be done in the months ahead as the bill passes through the Assembly and Senate and ultimately ends up on the Governor’s desk. We will be calling upon you again to join us in these efforts. If you don’t already know who your state representatives are, please visit and keep their information on hand. This will make it easier for you to contact them when called upon to do so.

We are also collecting personal stories of the workers who have suffered job loss, as well as those who’ve been separated from their families and friends for months at a time to work in states that offer greater tax incentives. If you have a story to tell, please send it to Keep an eye on for information and updates about the campaign to save California's film industry.

You may not realize the impact you have already made just by being there Saturday, but rest assured it was great. We must do everything possible to secure the future of entertainment jobs in California. But it is only through working together, in great numbers, that we can achieve true success.

Thank you so much.
